Did You Know?
  1. The first gutters were thought of and used in ancient civilizations around 3.000 B.C.? They were used  to drain water from one location to another using a contraption they made from stone, brick, and wood. On a side note, the first drainage systems to drain water from streets were created and. used by the Romans.

  2. Gargoyles were as rain gutters? The gargoyles directed rain water away from the building. Brilliant! It's unclear, but apparently some people believed that they warded off evil spirits from the building.

  3. Eventually in the 1200s the gargoyles were replaced with wood, lead, and clay.

  4. Today we produce rain gutters from a range of materials such as plastic, steel, copper, and aluminum. And homeowners get their choice of two gutter shapes: K-Style Gutters or Half-round gutters. And, of course, homeowners can add downspouts to their gutters.

  5. Cleaning out your gutters can be dangerous! Organic debris trapped inside gutters become slippery and slimy. Let's keep you out of the hospital. Give us a call and let us put your rain gutters on a scheduled maintenance.

  6. Thousands of toys are found in rain gutters each year. What do you reckon are the most common toys found? Frisbees, balls, and badminton birdies. You wouldn't believe the things we find in gutters, from toy tractors to Barbie Dolls. Go figure!

  7. Up until the 1980s tiny rain gutters were installed on cars and trucks to prevent rain from falling on drivers' heads when exiting the vehicle! The gutters were located on the roof which drastically affected the car's air flow.  So, aerodynamics were the cause of phasing them out, and almost no one noticed.

  8. Here's a stumper: Earthworms. We find quite a few earthworms in the soil-ridden gutters. How they got up there we will never know. Some have theorized that worm eggs can get stuck between birds' legs or the wind. The worms hatch once inside the moist, clogged rain gutter. We conclude, quite possible!

  9. We all detest mosquitoes. And yet, without our awareness, standing water in your gutters is an excellent breeding ground for those pesky rascals. So, have your rain gutters regularly cleaned to prevent pests near your home. Pick us! Pick us!

  10. Did you know clutter, cutter, butter, clutter, shutter, and flutter rhyme with gutter? That's all, no particular reason for bringing up such a useless fact!
